Italy–UNOPS Project Expands Healthcare Services for Climate-Vulnerable Communities in Ethiopia
The rehabilitation and expansion of Dimeka Health Center in South Ethiopia is set to improve healthcare access for more than 55,000 people in the Hamer district. Supported by the Government of Italy and implemented by the United Nations Office for Project Services, the upgraded facility now includes improved maternity wards, vaccination spaces, water supply, and sanitation systems. These enhancements are expected to strengthen routine immunisation, maternal care, and overall patient safety in a region highly vulnerable to climate-related health risks. Investments in resilient healthcare infrastructure such as this play a critical role in ensuring that essential medical services, protective equipment, and life-saving interventions can be delivered consistently to remote communities.
