Ethiopia has strengthened its health regulation system to boost safety, quality, and efficiency across food, medicine, and healthcare services, Health State Minister Frehiwot Abebe announced. The country has expanded domestic drug supply coverage from 8% to 60% in just two years, improving product quality, saving foreign exchange, and enhancing global competitiveness. Robust regulation is also expected to unlock medical tourism opportunities, supported by a dedicated strategy, while digital infrastructure and institutional coordination are being upgraded to build a more resilient health system.
